A brazen armed robbery Thursday night caused concern on the University of Maryland's College Park campus.
About 10:40 p.m., a female student was robbed at gunpoint at parking lot KK, a small area tucked between academic buildings. No one can remember a gunpoint robbery being committed that deep inside the campus perimeter.
Within minutes, the crime was the subject of a campus-wide alert to the phone or computer of every student and faculty member. It was lifted about midnight.
The robbery occurred just two days after a similar crime occurred near the train tracks that cross Paint Branch Parkway just off campus.
Police caution students not to walk alone on or off campus.
Investigators believe they will be able to retrieve video of the crime and the robber.
