A body was found in Fort Lincoln Park behind Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in northeast D.C. Monday morning.
A woman walking her dog about 11 a.m. found the body of a man, police said. He appeared to be shot, with a cigarette still in his mouth.
The scene is a popular park around the corner from the new Costco.
“Fort Lincoln is really a quiet, calm, safe community, and this is pretty unusual,” D.C. police Cmdr. Andy Solberg said.
