A University of Maryland student opened fire on his two housemates in an off-campus residence and then turned the gun on himself, Prince George's County Police said.
Police said that shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday, one man set a fire in the basement of the home. When the other two housemates confronted him, he opened fire, killing one and injuring the second as that student tried to flee the house. The shooter then went to the rear of the house and killed himself, police said.
All three residents were male University of Maryland students, but it is currently unknown whether they were undergraduate or graduate students.
The injured student is expected to survive.
