Metro Transit Police are asking for the the public's help in locating a man who allegedly stole a vehicle from a station parking lot early Saturday morning.
Investigators say that the vehicle was stolen shortly after 7 a.m. from the parking lot at Addison Road Station. Metro Police say that they were able to track the car by using the victim's iPhone, which was left inside.
Moments later, investigators spotted the vehicle in the parking lot of a shopping center on Van Dorn street in Alexandria. The suspect drove away, but later abandoned the vehicle on the on-ramp from Van Dorn Street to the Capital Beltway.
The suspect fled the vehicle on foot. Metro Transit Police, Alexandria Police, Fairfax County Police, and Virginia State Police were all searching for the suspect as of 10:40 a.m. Saturday.
The suspect (pictured above) is described as a man in his mid-to-late 40s, with a bald head, facial hair, and glasses. He was last seen wearing black jeans and a black T-shirt, as well as possibly a canvas jacket. He stands approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and weights approximately 170 pounds. He is also described as having a growth of some kind on the side of his neck, similar to an Adam's apple.
