The NBA trade deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m. ET and the Washington Wizards are reportedly in talks with the Atlanta Hawks for the services of forward Josh Smith. This should come as no surprise, but according to ESPN's Chris Broussard, the Wizards have indicated that John Wall, Bradley Beal and Nene are all unavailable.
That leaves the likes of Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza -- whom the Wizards acquired in a trade before the season started -- as well as Jordan Crawford, currently unhappy in his diminished role, and Kevin Seraphin, who, in this blogger's opinion, is the most valuable trade bait available.
I wonder if anyone would be dumb enough to take Jan Vesely off of Washington's hands...
If the Wizards are serious about landing Smith, who averages 17.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game (which would make him the Wizards' leading scorer and second-leading rebounder), then they are going to have to up the ante. The Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics are reportedly hot on Smith's heels.
