Fauquier County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a person of interest in an apparent double homicide of a husband and wife.
Deputies found Nelson Slack, 80, and Ethel Slack, 74, dead in their home in the 7200 block of Bunker Hill Road about 1:15 p.m. Sunday.
About 11 a.m., friends reported the Slacks did not show up at church and could not be reached, according to the sheriff’s office. They had not been seen in more than 24 hours, and their vehicle was not at the residence.
The vehicle was found Sunday evening in the Fredericksburg area, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies are looking for 60-year-old John Wesley Jeffries, of Fredericksburg. A vehicle know to be operated by Jeffries was found about a half mile from the Slacks’ home, according to the sheriff‘s office.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office already wanted Jeffries for alleged crimes of abduction, strangling and malicious wounding, according to the Fauquier County Sheriff‘s Office. He is wanted in Fauquier County only for questioning.
He is a sexually violent offender and should be considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.
Anyone who encounters Jeffries should be cautious and call 911 immediately.
