Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occured in Wheaton Tuesday night.
The victim has been identified as Marlyn Eres Ali, 53.
Ali was crossing Connecticut Avenue at Everton Street when she was struck by a southbound vehicle, authorities said.
The driver fled the scene.
Ali was found nearby around 8:15 p.m. and was transported to Suburban Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. However, she may have been hit as early as 7 p.m., which is around the time she usually returned from her job as a nanny in the District, reported News4's Chris Gordon.
Investigators are not confirming any specific details about the make or model of the striking vehicle, but they believe it has front-end damage.
