A Leesburg woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband was ordered held without bond during a hearing Monday.
Dae Hwang, 57, appeared on closed-circuit TV wearing an orange-and-white-striped jail jumpsuit.
She bowed her head but otherwise showed little emotion as a judge told her through an interpreter that she was charged with first-degree murder, reported News4 Northern Virginia Bureau Chief Julie Carey.
Hwang was assigned a public defender and asked whether she would be responsible for her lawyer's fee, Carey reported. Hwang said little else, but at one point stood and interrupted the interpreter before being told to sit down.
She is being held in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April.
Officers found the body of Hwang's husband, Kyung Hwang, 63, early Saturday morning after they were called to the couple's home in the 1600 block of Chickasaw Place NE in Leesburg.
Kyung Hwang was found with multiple stab wounds in an upstairs bedroom, investigators said. Police quickly took Dae Hwang into custody.
Neighbors said Kyung Hwang was a part-time minister at a church in Falls Church.
