D.C. police are looking for the man a 14-year-old girl says kidnapped her after school Monday and raped her while holding her captive for hours.
The girl said a man approached her about 4 p.m. near 11th and Clifton streets in Northwest – near the temporary home of Cardozo High School – and told her to get in his car. When she refused, the man put her in a chokehold and forced her into the back of a black SUV.
The girl said the man raped her in the SUV and kept her in the SUV for more than five hours before she managed to escape near Howard University, where she ran into the hospital for help.
D.C. Public Schools sent a letter home to parents informing them of that incident and a similar sexual assault near H.D. Woodson High School Jan. 31. Students and staff members were warned to be on the alert.
DCPS requested increased police presence at Cardozo’s temporary location during student arrival in the morning and dismissal in the afternoon. School administrators have increased their “safe passage” to monitor student traffic to and from school.
Anyone with information about the cases should call the police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
