Four teens from Chicago were killed when their car skidded of a bridge and plunged into a creek in a rural part of northern Illinois.

Will County Sheriffs confirmed the bodies of two boys and two girls were found in the car in Forked Creek Tuesday morning on Ballou Road. The students from Wilmington High School, 60 miles southwest of Chicago, are between the ages of 15 and 17.

One of the families reported their child missing late Monday after the teens left home. Police were called to the creek around 7:30 a.m.

Will County Sheriff's Department spokesman Ken Kaupas told the Associated Press it appears the driver hit a patch of water or ice and lost control. The car tore through a guard rail on the bridge and plunged into the water. The creek's water level had risen after heavy rain and snow for the past week.

Crew pulled the submerged vehicle from the creek where four bodies were found.

Wilmington High School has not confirmed the victims were students there.

The accident comes on the heels of a string of car crashes involving young people. Five teenagers died in west Texas over the weekend in a firey crash after their vehicle ran a stop sign and collided with a fuel truck.

Also over the weekend, six teenagers died in a stolen SUV that crashed and flipped into a pond.
