Metro announced Friday that it will take a four-weekend break from its normal track work to accommodate those who wish to see the cherry blossoms.

Starting Friday through Sunday, April 14, weekend track work will only take place after 10 p.m. Sundays when ridership is light.

"While the work we do almost every weekend is necessary to get the system back to a steady state of safety and reliability, we are in a position where we can take a short break to let everyone enjoy the season," Metro General Manager and CEO Richard Sarles said in a statement. "The spring break will give people an opportunity to experience the type of system we are working toward."

The National Cherry Blossom Festival began Wednesday and runs through April 14.
