Police in Prince William County are looking for a man whom they say abducted and raped a woman in Manassas late Thursday night.
Authorities say the attack occurred in a secluded area behind a townhouse on Vermont Place at approximately 11:15 p.m. Investigators say the accuser, a 31-year-old from Herndon, was walking from a car to a friend's house when she was approached by an unknown man.
Police say the man pulled a handgun on the woman and dragged her to the secluded area, where he raped her. Following the attack, the man fled on foot, and the woman ran to her friend's house and called 911. She was taken to a local hospital. A police search using dogs and a helicopter turned up no sign of the attacker.
Police passed out flyers in the neighborhood warning residents about the rape.
The suspect is described as a black man standing about 5-feet-9-inches tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black, puffy winter jacket; dark gray jeans and a black-and-white bandanna.
Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to call (703) 670-3700 or 1-866-411-8477. Anonymous callers are accepted and could receive a reward of up to $1,000.
