The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a security guard at a popular Fredericksburg nightclub early Saturday morning.
Police say that the guard, whose name has not been released, was killed in a drive-by shooting outside the Q Ball Cafe at 960 Bragg Road at around 1 a.m. Witnesses told police that a fight had broken out between two groups of people attending a rap concert at the club. The groups were ejected from the club, but soon a second altercation took place in the parking lot. A little later, police say a group of people fired several shots at the front of the club, killing the guard who was standing outside.
Investigators say that police have been called to the Q Ball Cafe several times over the past few months to break up disturbances. Authorities estimate that around 300 people were outside the club following the concert.
There have been no arrests made in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Spotsylvania County Criminal Investigations Division.
