The troubled Silver Spring Transit Center is already years behind schedule and millions over budget – and now the cost of the project is set to go up even more.
Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will ask the County Council Tuesday for $7.5 million more to fund the project.
The price tag for the project is already about $110 million.
The additional money is for legal and consultant fees related to the delay of the project. Part of the money will be used for change orders.
The massive building, which sits right in the heart of downtown Silver Spring, is said to have major structural issues. However, the developer of the project disputes those claims.
