Spotsylvania County Sheriff's deputies have named two more suspects in the shooting of a semi-pro football player Saturday night.
They are seeking Chauncey Cartier Lampkin, 27 of Spotsylvania, and David Davion Burroughs, 25, of Stafford for the shooting of Marcellus "Bull" Greene.
Sunday, 26 year-old Lavon Antonio Chew was arrested and charged with brandishing a weapon and firing a weapon from a car.
Greene was shot while he was working as a security guard at Q-Ball, a pool hall and nightclub on Bragg Road in Fredericksburg. He had offered to walk out in front of a female patron who was leaving to make sure she would be safe following a fight outside the club.
Police said the fight was between two groups that had attended a concert at the club. One group was ejected by the club and got into a fight in the parking lot.
Shortly afterward, police said, the suspects drove by the club and fired several shots at the building, striking and fatally wounding Greene.
Greene, 45, was known in Fredericksburg as a loving father, a youth football coach and a mentor -- and known for his career of almost two decades as a semi-pro football player in the U.S., Canada and overseas. Greene had taken the guard job to help support his 17-year-old son.
His family said Greene probably had no idea the fight was continuing. "The music was so loud, I don't think he heard the shots," said Stephen Greene, the victim's brother.
Friends and former teammates hope to come together to remember the life of Marcellus Greene sometime this week.
"Now, I know he left a legacy behind for the young ones," Greene's mother, Shirley, said of the young people he coached. "Someday, maybe they will look back [and say,] 'I want to do what Bull did.'"
