Police in Anne Arundel County are investigating an early-morning accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.
The accident took place at approximately 5:40 a.m. Saturday, near the intersection of Maryland Route 100 and the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (Maryland Route 295). Investigators say that a motorcycle and a 2000 Isuzu box truck were heading west on Route 100 when the motorcycle changed lanes and struck the back of the box truck.
The motorcyclist, identified as 27-year-old James Garrett Henderson, of La Plata, was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the box truck, 55-year-old William Ramirez, of Germantown, was not injured, nor was his passenger.
Investigators believe that the accident was caused by Henderson traveling at a high rate of speed. The investigation is ongoing.
