Fairfax County Police are searching for a five-year-old boy believed to be with his mother, and detectives say they are concerned about his welfare.
Cameron Serafin should have been returned to his father on Sunday. Instead, authorities say his mother, Rebecca Serafin, altered their appearances and left her car behind to avoid detection. They may be using the last name Love, police said.
Authorities were unable to provide details on the boy's parents' custody arrangement, but a police spokesperson said the boy's mother failed to comply with the custody arrangement.
Police have charged her with custodial interference, a misdemeanor.
They released images of them believed to be the most current, although a police spokesperson declined to state where they were taken. These images reflect their altered appearances.
Rebecca Serafin is approximately 5'4" and weighs between 120 and 130 pounds. Cameron Serafin is 3'5" and weighs about 40 pounds.
