Suspicious Package and Envelopes Found in Senate Buildings

U.S. Capitol Police have cleared the scene of a suspicious package found in the atrium of the Hart Senate Office Building.

They continue to investigate envelopes found on the third floors of the Hart and Russell Senate Buildings.

Senate staffers were notified shortly before noon to stay in their offices, and authorities cleared the building's atrium of people. By shortly before 1 p.m., staffers in the Hart Office Building were being allowed to leave their offices.

The suspicious envelopes and package have been removed from the buildings, according to NBC News Mike Viqueira.
