As the manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, continued on Friday, Boston residents, who have been ordered to stay indoors, began sharing photos of the city’s empty streets.
Authorities were hunting door-to-door for the 19-year-old college student after his older brother and alleged accomplice was killed in a furious getaway attempt overnight.
The city was completely deserted as mass transit was suspended in Boston and police warned close to 1 million people in the city and some of its suburbs to hunker down in their homes behind locked doors.
Businesses were also advised not to open today and people waiting at bus and subway stops were told to go back home.
The Red Sox and the Bruins' games scheduled for Friday night were postponed.
