The Capitals signed right wing Eric Fehr and left wing Aaron Volpatti to two-year contract extensions Wednesday. Fehr will earn $3 million over the course of his new contract, while Volpatti will earn $1.15 million.
Washington's 18th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Draft, Fehr returned to the Capitals on a one-year, $600,000 contract at the start of the season after a forgettable and injury-riddled season with the Jets in 2011-12. After only scoring twice in 35 games last year, the 27-year-old has eight goals and 16 points through 39 games.
Meanwhile, Volpatti was plucked off the waiver wire from the Canucks in late February. Recently, he has become a fixture on Washington's fourth line.
