The idea of a tax on restaurant meals is being floated again in Fairfax County.
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors agreed to discuss the idea in greater detail.
The public will be able to join in the discussion at a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 7.
The idea of a meals tax has been suggested in the past, including just last year. That effort did not actually put the question on the ballot.
Voter approval is required in order for a meal tax to actually take effect. Fairfax residents rejected a meals tax in a 1992 referendum.
Those in favor of the tax say it would bring extra, needed revenue to the county.
