Five teenagers were injured when the car they were in was struck by a Mack truck in Howard County, Md., Thursday afternoon.

Investigators believe the Honda Civic the teens were riding in pulled out of the Mt. Hebron High School parking lot about 2:20 p.m. and was struck by a large truck traveling west on Route 99, police said. They believe the car was driven in to the path of the truck, which is owned by a tree-removal service.

The driver of the Civic, 18-year-old Jeffrey Connor SInclair, was flown to Shock Trauma in critical condition. Four others -- Justyn Richard Alexander, 17; Michael Dennis Brooks, 15; Elisha Shannon Brown, 17; and Urek Ali Bradshaw, 16 -- were taken to Howard County General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The teens are all believed to be students at Mt. Hebron.

The driver of the truck, 43-year-old David Dell, was not injured.

The investigation continues. No citations have been issued as of 6 p.m.
