A 3-year-old girl was taken to Children's Hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in southeast D.C. Thursday evening.
Sources told News4's Shomari Stone six-to-seven shots were fired when the child was struck in the leg while standing on a balcony in the 2400 block of Elvans Road SE. Police may be looking for a maroon car or van, the source said.
Police have not confirmed any lookouts or how many shots were fired.
The girl's father told Stone it appears the girl was caught in crossfire.
It appears the girl will live.
