A 23-month-old boy is in critical condition after nearly drowning in a pool in Upper Marlboro Friday evening.
The child was found shortly after 8 p.m. in the pool in the 12400 block of Sturdee Drive. Prince George's County Fire/EMS responded and performed CPR. The child was taken to a local hospital.
Saturday afternoon, Prince George's Fire/EMS spokesman Mark Brady Tweeted that the child was "in critical condition battling for his life."
Police are investigating why the child was alone at the time he was found in the pool. It is not clear whether the pool belonged to the child's family or to a neighbor.
