It's not quite the estimated $590.5 million Jackpot ticket that was sold in Florida prior to Saturday night's drawing, but one lucky person has $1 million more to their name thanks to a purchase in Lorton.
Virginia Lottery officials say that a $1 million-winning ticket was bought at the Food Lion location at 7760 Gunston Plaza Drive. To win $1 million, a ticket would have had to contain the five main numbers in the correct sequence, but not the 6th, or Powerball, number.
The winning numbers in Saturday night's draw were 10-13-14-22-52, with the Powerball number of 11.
According to the Associated Press, 33 tickets nationwide won $1 million. Another 11 tickets in Virginia won $10,000 each.
The Virginia Lottery said that more than 210,000 tickets bought in the Commonwealth won prizes ranging from $4 to the million-dollar ticket Saturday. All together, officials estimate that the selling of Powerball tickets between March 30 and Saturday earned the Lottery $13 million in profit.
