The Vietnam Memorial will be illuminated by candlelight Friday night as Rolling Thunder kicks off their Memorial Day weekend events.
The vigil, which begins at 9 p.m., is just one of the events the group is holding in remembrance of veterans this weekend.
Musical acts and speakers will take the stage Saturday morning at the Reflecting Pool. The next day, tens of thousands of motorcycles will take part in the 26th annual "Ride for Freedom" from the Pentagon to the National Mall.
Washington Boulevard from I-395 to the Memorial Bridge will be closed from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, Arlington County police announced.
Rolling Thunder is a national organization committed to helping the country's veterans.
