With a laundry list of amenities, potential residents almost forget how small the District's smallest apartment is... that is until they step inside.

Marta Mirecki owns the tiny home in Capitol Hill and tried to rent it our as charming and cozy, touting a washer/dryer, a parking spot and gas stove.

"The house really does have everything from a big fenced-in yard to off-street parking in the heart of Capitol Hill," Mirecki said.

However, when prospective tenants showed up to the apartment they were surprised by its size.

"People just walked through in shock because it's very, very small," Mirecki said.

The teeny apartment encompasses 252 square-foot apartment.

"The people who came through were interested in seeing the smallest house in Washington and the people who have lived here love the fact it’s a real ice breaker at parties and a fun thing to say," Mirecki said.

For the fun of it, Mirecki asked a tax assessor if her home was in fact the smallest in D.C.

"He looked up the database for the city and at 252 square feet, it is the smallest freestanding house in Washington. There are some carriage houses that are smaller, but they are attached to larger houses," Mirecki said.

Mirecki named her business after the tiny house and the online video she posted for the property has "It's a small world" playing in the background.

The home costs $1,200 per month to rent and there is an open house this Saturday, May 25.
