Street closures due to repairs to a sink hole in downtown D.C. likely will remain in place through later this week, the D.C. Department of Transportation said Monday.
Northbound 14th Street NW is closed between Pennsylvania Avenue NW and New York Avenue NW and F Street NW is closed 13th and 15th streets.
The broken storm drain that caused the sink hole to open at 14th and F streets May 21 requires complex repairs. About three-fourths of the intersection needed excavating so crews can fix the broken storm drain. And a second hole developed about 30 feet away.
Crews are working around the clock to complete the repairs.
DDOT advised morning commuters to avoid using the 14th Street Bridge to enter D.C.
