“Trickle-down politics” of the Republican Party are primarily to blame for the nation's economic troubles, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said Thursday.
But O'Malley, a potential Democratic presidential contender in 2016, also said his party deserves some blame for going along with what he calls “falsehoods” and bad economic policies.
O'Malley gave an address at the Center for American Progress Fund in Washington. He was scheduled to participate in a panel discussion later in the day at the AFL-CIO headquarters.
“Trickle-down economics has been an abject failure for 99 percent of Americans,” O’Malley said
The governor spent most of his address touting what he says was the state's success in lifting the middle class and encouraging education, research and development and civil rights.
