Firefighters battled a fire in Leesburg, Va., that destroyed a home and was hot enough to melt the siding of a nearby home Thursday afternoon.
Two firefighters from Loudoun County Fire Rescue suffered minor injuries.
The family evacuated before firefighters arrived. The fire displaced two adults, three children and four dogs, who are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The fire broke out shortly after noon at a home in the 18000 block of Castle Guard Court in Leesburg. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames and smoke billowing from the rear of the home.
The fire extended to the second floor, and the home collapsed during the blaze.
