Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said today that the full extent of Robert Griffin III's right knee injury is currently unknown. The quarterback will visit renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Florida Tuesday to undergo testing, according to Shanahan.

But a report this afternoon on the Washington Post claims Griffin's MRI suggests partial tears to Griffin's ACL and LCL, two ligaments in the knee.

Those three unnamed sources have knowledge of the situation, the Post said. Now, the doctors and team are trying to determine that the treatment would be, how long Griffin could be sidelined and weather the tears are old or new.

But at his press conference today, Shanahan did not discuss the type, severity or prognosis of Griffin's knee problem.

“Right now, I really don’t know,” Shanahan said when pressed for details. “Everything right now is total speculation."

Griffin aggravated his knee during Sunday's 24-14 season-ending loss to the Seattle Seahawks. After tweaking it during a first-quarter scramble, RGIII limped throughout the rest of the game before it finally gave out late in the fourth quarter. As he attempted to corral a bad snap, Griffin's knee buckled underneath him, sending him to the ground in obvious pain. He was finally removed from the game and replaced by Kirk Cousins.

"When adversity strikes you respond in one of two ways," Griffin tweeted right as Shanahan's press conference began Monday. "You step aside and give in .Or you step up and fight."
