More than 200 people gathered in Rock Creek Park Friday night to remember 15-year-old Josh Davis, who was killed Monday when a tree branch fell on top of him.
Severe storms passed through the area while Josh rode his bike in an area that family and friends say was familiar to him. He was a student at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School.
His sister Corrina spoke at the vigil, which was held on what would have been his last day of school.
"He was always so happy and positive," Corinna said at the vigil, fighting back tears. "I realize everything he’s ever done... yelled at me or talked to me or just made fun of me… it was all just to make me better."
Sam Alston remembered Josh as a boy scout, a baseball player and a good friend.
"No matter what, he always kept my spirits up," Alston said.
A memorial service has been planned for next Thursday.
