D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray plans to sign a recently approved bill governing the growing food trucks industry, Pedro Ribeiro, the mayor's director of communications, confirmed Thursday.

Council members revised an earlier version of the bill Tuesday, compromising on space issues following an outcry from some food truck vendors.

The new bill reduces parking violations from $2,000 to just $50 and the amount of unobstructed sidewalk required to vend from 10 feet to 6 feet.

A monthly lottery will also be held for some food truck locations. Food trucks that don't get a spot in a lottery zone will only have to park 200 feet away instead of the previously proposed 500 feet.

Ribeiro said Gray will sign the bill as soon as it is reviewed.
