It was a violent night in the District of Columbia, as two people were shot and killed in seperate incidents within a half-hour of each other in Southeast.
The first deadly shooting happened just before 1 a.m. in the 3500 block of East Capitol Street in Southeast. Police responding to a report of a shooting found a man there suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim, Quentin Lavar White, 28, of southeast Washington, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not released a description of a possible gunman or a motive in the case.
In the second shooting, a woman died after she was shot multiple times shortly after 2 a.m. in the 1300 block of Stevens Road, not far from Suitland Parkway.
Police responding to a report of a shooting found Malika Stover, 35, of southeast Washington, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
In that case, as well, police have not released a description of a possible gunman or a motive in the case.
Police said they did not believe there was a connection between the two shootings.
The Metropolitan Police Department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone wanted for homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
