News4 spoke with the mother of a 7-year-old girl who was abducted and sexually assaulted last weekend in Prince George's County.
Officials said the girl was riding a scooter with her friends at the Woods of Marlton apartment complex on Heathermore Boulevard in Upper Marlboro, Md. Saturday at approximately 3 p.m. At some point, she wandered away from the group.
A man then abducted her at gunpoint, took her behind a row of apartments in the complex and sexually assaulted her. He then ran from the scene.
"We are both going to counseling because I've never been through this before and she's never been through this before," the victim's mother told News4's Shomari Stone.
The victim described her attacker as a bald, white man, heavy set, standing about 6' with a gray, goatee-style beard.
"Burn in hell for hurting our whole community and a whole family for a sick gratification. Burn in hell," the mother said.
Her daughter has been released from the hospital and is undergoing counseling.
Prince George's County Police cadets Monday did a painstaking grid search of the wooded area behind the complex where the attack is said to have taken place.
One resident of the complex told News4 she sent her 7-year-old and 12-year-old to stay with relatives.
Another resident told News4's Jackie Bensen he heard the child yelling for her mother during the time of the attack.
