A Maryland state lawmaker convicted in a boating crash has been cited for illegal crabbing.
Del. Don Dwyer -- who last month was convicted of operating a motorboat while drunk -- was cited in Sillery Bay this week, reports the Capital of Annapolis.
A state regulation, intended to protect the crab population, bans recreational crabbers from setting crabbing gear or crabbing from boats on Wednesdays. The violation carries a $500 fine.
Dwyer's attorney in the boating case says he wasn't aware of the citation.
A Natural Resources Police spokesman says Dwyer was very cooperative and Dwyer might not have known about the ban.
Dwyer, a Pasadena Republican, pleaded guilty last month for the 2012 boat collision, which injured several people. His 30-day jail sentence was immediately appealed.
