Six people were shot and two killed in Washington in four separate incidents around the city late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
Metropolitan Police said two men, one in northwest D.C. and the other in northeast D.C., died after being shot.
Shortly after 4 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of 1st Place, Northwest and found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. Police later confirmed the shooting was being investigated as a homicide.
The second fatality occurred at 4:35 a.m. in the 5000 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast. One man and one woman were found with gunshot wounds to the upper body.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but the man died on the scene.
Late Friday night, police responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of K Street, Southwest and found a man shot in the back. He was conscious when police arrived and was taken to the hospital.
Police also got a call shortly before 12:30 a.m. about a shooting in the 2600 block of Birney Place, Southeast. They discovered two men who were shot in the lower extremities, according to police.
Both men survived and police are asking if anyone saw a red pickup truck fleeing the area at the time of the shooting.
