Adam Kokesh -- the activist who loaded a shotgun on video in downtown D.C. earlier this month -- was ordered held without bond Monday.

Judge Patricia Broderick of D.C. Superior Court said there was probable cause was found to hold him.

Kokesh, 31, has been in jail on drug charges since authorities searched his Herndon, Va., home July 9 and seized 10 weapons -- including the shotgun shown in his YouTube video -- as well as ammunition, marijuana, mushrooms and other suspected narcotics.

Authorities announced another charge against him Friday: carrying a rifle or shotgun outside a home or place of business.

The search came five days after Kokesh posted a video to YouTube that showed him loading a shotgun while standing on Freedom Plaza between the White House and the Capitol.

"We will not be silent; we will not obey; we will not allow our government to destroy our humanity," Kokesh said in the video. He later said he was protesting the fact that citizens are permitted to carry guns in Virginia but not once they cross the river into the district.

A U.S. Park Police officer reviewed the video and determined the video was authentic.

Kokesh, an Iraq war veteran, faces carries a maximum sentence of five years behind bars and a fine up to $5,000 on the gun charge. His next court date is Aug. 13.
