A repeat of Thursday's light coating of snow is likely beginning Friday afternoon.

Two areas of low pressure will make their way through Tennessee and Michigan, bringing snow to the D.C. area beginning about 3 p.m., according to Storm Team 4. Snowfall could really pick up about 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. and should be through the area by 9 p.m. or 10 p.m.

Another 1-2 inches of light, powdery snow is possible -- more near the Chesapeake Bay and the mountains. With high temperatures in the mid-to-upper 20s Friday, this snow also is likely to stick, causing slick conditions for the evening commute.

Federal agencies in the D.C. area open Friday, but employees have the option for unscheduled leave or telework.

A few school districts have already announced they will be closed again Friday. Anne Arundel County plans to dismiss classes two hours early.

Thursday's snow came from a weak area of low pressure that swept through from the Northwest, Storm Team4 reported. It prompted some school closings and delays as it affected the morning rush hour.

With temperatures remaining below freezing Thursday, any snow that melted under the sun could refreeze, causing slick spots for the Friday.

A warm-up will finally begin early next week, with afternoon temperatures well above freezing, melting much of the snow. The temperatures should stay above average all of next week.
