A suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old woman who was found shot to death in the Brightwood/Manor Park area of D.C. early Friday.
Alexander D. Buckley, 21, of Northwest, has been charged with first-degree felony murder in the death of Siohban Nicole Lee of Takoma Park, Md.
Police found Lee's body at 5th and Nicholson streets NW shortly before 3:30 a.m. after they received a report of an unconscious person. Authorities say Lee had no signs consistent with life.
A neighbor told Collins she heard gunshots around 2 a.m.
"I feel terrible for this young lady's family..." said another resident. "I mean, God, an 18-year-old kid."
The motive in the killing is still unclear, but the victim and the suspect were acquaintances, News4's Pat Collins reports. Police acted on a tip they received earlier in the day and picked up Buckley as a result.
Lee worked at the Starbucks inside a Giant grocery store in Silver Spring. It's unclear why she was in the neighborhood where she died, but the shooting occurred near a stop for the 62 Metrobus, which goes to Takoma Park.
Anyone with more information on the case is asked call police at 202-727-9099 or submit an anonymous tip by texting their message to 50411.
