Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams will not play in the Pro Bowl this Sunday due to an apparent injury.
A press release from the Minnesota Vikings announced that Minnesota rookie tackle Matt Kaleel is replacing him.
Williams had been practicing in Hawaii all week for his first Pro Bowl. Sources told WJFK FM Williams needed stitches after an altercation Thursday evening.
Williams played through thigh, knee and ankle injuries for much of the season but continued to perform at a high level.
This season he redeemed himself after missing the final four games of 2011 for failing multiple drug tests for marijuana use. After observing his maturity and leadership during the off-season program, Redskins players voted Williams as one of their team captains.
Williams joins Robert Griffin III as the second Redskins player who was selected to the Pro Bowl only to withdraw because of injury. Teammates London Fletcher, Ryan Kerrigan and Lorenzo Alexander are still expected to play.
