Prince George’s Police, Prince George’s County Fire and Maryland State Police are investigating a serious crash that left seven people with serious injuries, including four firefighters.
At about 3 a.m. Wednesday a tractor trailer, a fire truck and an SUV collided on the inner loop of the beltway near the eastbound exit for John Hanson Highway.
Prince George’s County Fire Chief Marc Bashoor tells News4 that West Lanham Company 28’s fire engine was responding to an accident in that area when a tractor trailer rear-ended the fire engine. An SUV was also a part of this collision, causing the SUV to overturn.
There were a total of seven serious injuries – though none are believed to be life threatening at this time. A hazmat team is on the scene cleaning up the fuel spill.
At about 6:30 a.m. two lanes on the inner loop were closed.
