A Maryland teen slain in northwest D.C. Friday met her killer via the social-networking website Tagged, D.C. police told her family.

The man 18-year-old Siobhan Lee arranged to meet through her Tagged iPhone app was wanted by police.

The app originally designed for teens lets people text each other via the Internet. It encourages users to "connect" or "tag" lots of people with similar interests in a short time. It has 80 million registered users.

Lee’s grandmother believes she made a lapse in judgment that 18-year-olds are prone to make when she arranged to meet 21-year-old Alexander Buckley of Northwest. Buckley has a prior conviction for burglary and was wanted on a felony trespassing warrant.

Lee was found shot in the upper body near Fifth and Nicholson streets in Northwest Friday morning, police said. That’s near a bus line that runs to Takoma Park, where Lee lived.

“I truly believe that once Siobhan met this guy, she knew she made a mistake and then she was trying to get away, and she knew she needed to come home and was trying to come home,” her grandmother Belinda Lee said.

Buckley was arrested later that day after police received a tip. He is being held without bond.
