A new ad campaign in Metro stations aims to change public perception about the word "jihad."
Posters are now up at the Shaw, Waterfront, Rockville and Dunn Loring Metro stations. They show images of Muslims expressing their jihad. For example, one reads: “#MyJihad is to not take the simple things in life for granted.”
The Council for American-Islamic Relations says the word has become synonymous with terrorism when in reality it means "struggling in the way of God."
The organization hopes the posters illustrate the positive way Muslims practice jihad.
