Police in Anne Arundel County have charged a father and daughter with first-degree murder in the death of a man whose body was found in the woods in Glen Burnie last weekend.
Erica Tywanda Banks, 27, of Glen Burnie, was taken into custody Friday afternoon. Her father, Eric Glenn Banks, 48, of Baltimore, had already been charged in the death of Darren Dwayne Bell, 26, of Baltimore. A third suspect, 24-year-old Tremain Celos Calhoun of Pasadena, was charged with possession of a handgun.
Police discovered the Bankses and Calhoun shortly after 4 a.m. on the morning of January 27 while investigating a disturbance near the intersection of Tanyard Cove Road and Marley Neck Boulevard. When they arrived, Eric Banks was walking toward a Ford van from a wooded area, while Erica Banks and Calhoun sat in a Ford Explorer.
Bell's body was found in the wooded area with gunshots and stab wounds. A search of the Ford Explorer revealed a handgun. The Bankses and Calhoun were taken in for questioning.
Investigators say that Bell and Erica Banks were longtime acquaintances and had been involved in an ongoing dispute. However, the nature of that dispute was not immediately known. An investigation into the case is ongoing.
