Metro Transit will close its Pentagon Station South Entrance beginning Monday so crews can replace its 3 escalators.
Metro says the current escalators were installed 18 years ago, and the company that made the escalators has since stopped producing parts, making repairs increasingly difficult.
The new escalators will be similar to those recently installed at the system's Dupont Circle station. The replacement project is expected to last through the Fall. The Dupont Circle escalator replacement began on February 1 of last year and ended on October 21.
The North Entrance will remain open during the escalator work.
