The federal budget stalemate is hitting home at the White House budget office.
About 480 workers on the President's Office of Management and Budget staff have been told they may have to take days off without pay.
Every federal agency is dealing with spending cuts.
Press Secretary Jay Carney said the White House has been trying to cut costs by slowing down hiring, curtailing staff traveling and scaling back on buying supplies.
Carney wouldn't say if notices have gone out to other aides to the president.
