Spring is here, summer is just around the corner and police are reminding people to be careful with their belongings when they exercise outdoors.
Fairfax County police arrested six people in connection to a series of break-ins at county parks and rec centers. Investigators say thieves were taking credit cards from wallets and purses left in parked cars while people went walking or jogging.
In the past six months, parking lots at South Run, Burke Lake and the Audrey Moore Rec Centers have all been targeted.
According to police the thieves used the stolen credit cards at gas stations and stores like Best Buy and Apple.
The arrested suspects are facing a number of charges related to drugs, larceny, fraud and credit card theft. Police say it's important to keep your valuables out of plain sight or leave them at home if you don't need them.
