The taxi driver accused of shooting an Alexandria police officer was indicted by a Grand Jury Monday on attempted murder charges.

Police say officer Peter Laboy was shot in the head during a traffic stop Feb. 27, 2013 by Kashif Bashir. He has undergone several brain surgeries since the shooting.

Bashir was indicted on one count of aggravated malicious wounding, one count of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and two counts of using a weapon in the commission of a felony.

Laboy was released from the hospital in April. According to the Alexandria Police Department’s website, his rehabilitation is expected to take up to a year.
