Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker and County Council approved three appointees to the county's school board Monday.
More than 160 county residents applied for the positions. The appointments of Dr. Beverly Anderson of Fort Washington and Dr. Daniel Kaufman of Bowie were made by Baker.
"Both are extremely knowledgeable professionals whose expertise and energy will complement the existing board membership," Baker said. "I was overwhelmed by the response from residents who applied for these appointments and their desired engagement in our children's future.
The council approved the appointment of Curtis Valentine of Fort Washington.
Valentine is a parent of a child currently enrolled in the county's public school system. Anderson is former Provost and Vice president of the University of the District of Columbia and Kaufman is head of Widmeyer Communications' pre-K education practice in D.C.
Earlier this month, Baker approved the appointment of Dr. Segun Eubanks as Chair of the Board.
